FUTSAL PREMIER DIVISION
COLLEGE 1975 7 VS 3 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - Origo X 2 , Currer
A tough encounter vs a good College side in our opening match in the Premier, we
never got to grips with the space afforded in the Tercentenary Hall and College 1975 exposed this with some good one twos. We were now with the big boys and had to learn fast. MOTM - KRISTIAN ORIGO
ZOCA BASTION FC 1 VS 1 EUROPA FC
GOAL SCORERS - Currer
Our first points in the top flight, in a game where we rode our luck against the strong opponents, we played deep, restricting space and frustrated our opponents and when they did get through, the inspired Mascarenhas thwarted them between the sticks. We earnt our first points with a wonder strike from the lethal Currer burying his shot in the top corner. MOTM - STEFAN MASCARENHAS
INTER PRINCIPIA FC 6 VS 5 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - CURRER X 2, BALLESTER X 2, NAPOLI
An intense battle between two competitive sides which swung to and fro but ultimately ended with Inter Principia grabbing the win. The Bastion put themselves in the perfect position after coming from behind to lead with minutes to go, but lack of concentration cost us the match. Some great goals from either side and fought in the right spirit. MOTM - JAMIE CURRER
ZOCA BASTION FC 2 VS 6 KOALA FC
GOAL SCORERS - CURRER, GRECH
Against an opponent who came up with us from Division 2 we were expected to express ourselves and be more open, however we sat too deep and didn't gain any control of possession. Koala passed the ball well and picked us off, not a great display but we improved in the second half coming out of our shell more. MOTM - JOSH LOMBARD
LAGUNA 2007 6 VS 1 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - BALLESTER
A Tighter game than scoreline reflects and not a true reflection of the teams display, we had a more positive outlook but we didn't take our chances and left ourselves open at the back to be punished. We learn from mistakes and gain confidence from the positives game by game in the Premier.
MOTM - SEAN BALLESTER
ZOCA BASTION FC 3 VS 9 LYNX FC
GOAL SCORERS - LOMBARD X 2, GRECH
One of our most courageous performance against the reigning champions Lynx, where we led after going 1-0 down and held them off for most of the first half, however their obvious quality shone through and they took the reigns of the match, a valiant performance from the lads and a great learning curve against the elite of the Premier.
MOTM - JOSH LOMBARD
SPARTANS FC 6 VS 0 ZOCA BASTION FC
A harsh lesson on learning how to be clinical, we played a very competitive match against one of the most technical sides in the league, we had chances when the score was tight at 1-0 & 2-0, but we were unable to convert and the game went away from us as they were ruthless in front of goal, we fought till the end and with some more luck could have made a better score of it.
MOTM - STEVEN SOUSSI
ZOCA BASTION FC 5 VS 2 MONS CALPE FC
GOAL SCORERS - OLIVERO X 2, GRECH, SOUSSI, ORIGO
Our first win in the premier, what sweet words! We set up with an aggressive game plan to hunt for every ball and press them high up the pitch and we were winning 50/50's which ultimately gave us the chances and we buried them. Some quality combinations from Soussi & Olivero and the points were in the bag.
MOTM - GUY OLIVERO
SOUTH UNITED FC 9 VS 2 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - LOMBARD, DANINO
A game we started off horribly and never recovered, simply put we were too open and punished for defensive naivety . South United played some dominant football and we had no answers, a slightly better second half with an acrobatic volley from Lombard was the highlight of the game for us.
MOTM - JOSH LOMBARD
ZOCA BASTION FC 3 VS 3 BAVARIA FC
GOAL SCORERS - NAPOLI, CURRER, BALLESTER
One of our best team performances where we gave a very good Bavaria side a host of problems and created various chances with their keeper in inspired form, we finally made the breakthrough with a great team goal finished off by Naps. The game swung from to and fro and Bavaria had better of second half and we finished with a hard fought draw.
MOTM - ZOCA BASTION FC
FUTSAL CHALLENGE GROUP
LAGUNA 2007 3 VS 3 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - LOMBARD X 2, CURRER
A great team performance with a supreme team spirit to come from 2-0 down and a slow start, to going ahead 3-2 and within a whisker of another hard fought win, however Laguna fought back to level the game and only a miracle goal line clearance from debutante Guerrero kept us all square. A roller coaster of a match with the team uniting for a great performance.
MOTM - SEAN GUERRERO
ZOCA BASTION FC 10 VS 8 INTER PRINCIPIA FC
GOAL SCORERS - CURRER X 4, SOUSSI X 3, ORIGO, BALLESTER , BUHAGIAR
If the last game was a roller coaster this was a sky dive, we went through emotional highs and lows within a 40 Minute period. We learnt our lessons from the first round game and went for the jugular, aggressive from the start and we lead 2-0, however our over eagerness kept leaving holes at the back and time after time we were pegged back, 5-5 half time. Come the second half we shored up at the back and continued our relentless attacking display and we got our rewards winning the game deservedly.
MOTM - JAMIE CURRER / STEVEN SOUSSI
MONS CALPE FC 3 VS 2 ZOCA BASTION FC
GOAL SCORERS - CURRER, BUHAGIAR
A close intense encounter and a very disciplined performance by Zoca who took the lead half way through the first half with a Buhagiar goal. Mons Calpe FC equalised shortly after, taking the lead in the early part of the 2nd Half. It remained like that during most of the 2nd half as Zoca piled on the pressure searching for the equaliser, but it was Mons Calpe who scored again making it 3-1 and all hope to level was over.
MOTM - JARED BUHAGIAR
ZOCA BASTION FC 0 VS 1 LAGUNA 2007
A tough match which was heated and every tackle was full blooded, The Bastion enjoyed the first half creating a multitude of chances and failing to register. In the second half Laguna started taking the reigns and we rode our luck and Felice was imperious in goal. But in the final minute we conceded a late direct free kick due to the five foul rule and they converted it and we lost the game, a tough pill to swallow, but a gutsy perfomance from the lads.
MOTM - STUART FELICE
